Lebron James and Tom Brady are Changing the Expectation of Longevity

Lebron James in transition

With Lebron James about to enter his 20th NBA season and Tom Brady currently playing in his 23rd NFL season, we are currently witnessing something we have never seen before in professional sports. Lebron James is currently 37 years old while Tom Brady is 45, and both have no signs of slowing down.

Two athletes who are considered the greatest players in their respective sports, are still playing at an extremely high level despite their age.

While there have been many superstars who have played to their forties in their career, they would be way past their prime and playing poorly. This is what makes both Brady and Lebron so impressive to watch and the reason both superstars are still playing at an elite level is due to their investment of their bodies.

Lebron James reportedly spends $1.5 million on his body every year on things like nutritionists, trainers, massage therapists etc. The extra time and energy spent on taking care of his body has clearly payed off for Lebron, allowing him to play the game he loves for longer and still compete as one of the best players in the NBA.

Tom Brady’s TB12 brand is a method which explains how he has performed so well for so long. The method is centred around pliability, meaning the state in which your muscles are resilient and able to move without restriction. The TB12 diet is mostly high protein and plant based, and almost all the workouts consist of resistance bands.

After seeing both athletes perform at their best for so long, a new standard is raised when viewing athletes. We know it is possible for NBA and NFL players to play late into their forties and still dominate. We will see more athletes inspired by Lebron and Brady, investing into their bodies and increasing their career longevity.
